In this novel, Penn Cage is introduced when he is on holiday with his daughter. It is also revealed that he has made an enemy of the Deputy Director of the FBI due to a case he prosecuted and whilst he is home he gets involved with a murder case. The father of an old flame is the prime suspect. Due to his accident, Iles did take time out from communicating with his fans so he could recover and find himself again.

Readers of his webpage will know that he has returned and has started writing again. He is planning on updating his page a lot more and he has pages on Facebook and Twitter, so that he can keep in touch with everyone. He has recently moved to a new Publisher called William Morrow and they are going to be publishing his books in the future.
