This was recommended by someone who believes in using color frequencies along with music. I find it too difficult to get the coverage that I want. It must be placed so close to a speaker and face the speaker in order to operate. Then the light is facing away from you.

The problem can be solved by increasing the music volume to a level uncomfortable to me. The colors play along with the Solfeggio frequencies on a large screen TV. This is much more effective than this Lumin Disk. However, I will say that this disk is recommended by other musicians with recordings in Solfeggio frequencies. I have no speakers except on the laptop and ipad.

If I had had large speakers on the tv, I think that this would have worked well if you enjoy loud music. Does not look at all like the photo. It is not "rainbow" colored as described. The colors are black, blue, green and orange in a rather target shaped pattern. It does work well with the sound, but the colors received are not what I wanted. Best in sound mode!!! Got this multi colored luminidisc for my mad scientist display to use at my Annual Halloween bash. It looked better than I expected and I could not be more please.

It is very sound responsive in sound mode. I am a pro mobile DJ so I have had sound active products that seemed deaf. This is not, works great!!!

Highly recomend if you want a cool looking lightning product or something that approximates a jacob's ladder type effect. This thing really lights up the room if you are trying to use it as a kid's nightlite.

My daughter liked it for a few weeks, but she lost the AC cord and then the batteries ran out, so that was that. I think I got more of a kick out of the thing than she did. I purchased this to use as part of a prop for a Frankenstein lab in my son's haunted house. I was overall pleased with this but I didn't look closely enough to notice that the multicolor effect wasn't spread throughout.

It was more the appearance of a target or something similar with distinct rings of color. I probably should have purchased a solid color to avoid this problem. The device worked well and I was able to hang it inside the "controller" box that I built to make this prop. My 8 year old son liked it. It worked fine in both the sound activated mode and the always on mode.

Purchased this for my 14 year old son. He's into the cool science light up items. He loves it. Has it on most nights on the ON position, but definitely likes the option for sound activation as well when he's listening to something. Side note: I initially got a defective product and had prompt service to fix the issue. Definitely will purchase from again the future for any other cool science toys.

In a nutshell, it works. It's not nearly as large or expensive as "commercial" versions of these that are out there. It does what it is supposed to do. The active part of the disk is only " across, but it is quite bright and the "lightning" effect is as advertised. It has an AC power supply and it will run on AA batteries. Rechargable AA batteries work fine.
